Works great....better bang for the buck than Polar (2009-02-12)
I've had this HR monitor for about 2 months. So far I love it. It seems to be very accurate and has a lot of features. The only complaint (very minor) would be that it does not store multiple workouts of data. I believe the SI-9 has the ability to store more workouts.

UPDATE: After eight months it broke on me. This watch is cheap and defective!!!

I ordered one of these HR monitors and it came today. It took me several hours to figure out how to set the time and date. It was supposed to be easy and it was once I saw the clue. The manual says use SET for these functions and others but SET does not appear anywhere on mine. Then I realized on the watch it was "SEt" - that's SET with a little t. Hope this helps you.

An excellent product for its price, (2008-12-14)
In rating this item, I only considered the product price and quality.

I bought mine on Ebay for $17, including the shipping, from the same seller, Heart Rate Monitors USA, who's currently offering this product for $19.95 plus free shipping on Amazon.com. The seller must've replaced the batteries on the watch monitor and the chest strap: Thankfully, I haven't encountered any battery problem.

The product is well designed and manufactured: you don't notice that it's a 5-year old, closeout product. Considering the features it offers, $20 is a steal. A product with similar features, "Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor Watch," is twice more expensive.

Due to various features, learning to use the monitor takes time, but once you get it, it's easy to use.

If you want to get the best deal for your money, this product currently seems to be the best option. In fact, a $20 heart rate monitor is pretty much the cheapest you can get, but this product offers more than the basic functionality of just measuring the current heart rate. This really is a product built for professional training.

A definite buy if you want the cheapest heart rate monitor that does the job and more--it's a great deal. (If you can avoid the battery issue for sure. I wouldn't give this product five stars if it cost more than $20. I would buy other product at a higher price.)

heart rate monitor (2008-12-05)
The monitor works great and reliably. I feel confident in trusting the readings. Great value for the money.

I love my SI monitors! (2008-07-15)
I own the ECG5, 7, and 9 and love them all! I did receive my last one with a dead battery, but that really wasn't a big deal to me--a quick trip to my local jewelers and I was set to go. I also own a Polar F6 and have to say that the SI monitors are far superior. The chest strap is much more comfortable and the monitors themselves have a lot more functionality and are easier to program than the F6, in my opinion. My favorite SI monitor is the 5 as I like the lap data capture better on this one than the 7 and 9. I wish the other reviewers would have commented more on the features instead of mainly their feelings about the batteries.
