Very Pleased (2010-02-01)
Very happy with this product. It is easy to use and has plenty of space

Works for me! (2010-01-20)
I'm running a Windows 7 64bit OS and I've had this external hard drive for a little over a year now. This is the first product that I'm rating because I notice that lots of people buy it who have incompatibility issues. If you are like me and you make sure something will work with what you have before you buy it than you'd know there's nothing wrong with this HD. I Love the cute lights, the ways I can position it on my desk, and the space is just awesome! It really does the job and would recommended this product to people who can afford it and can literally use it!

I [still] want it to work well, but... (2010-01-13)
Best Buy had these cheap, so I bought two so that I could immediately add 3TB of storage to my vast empire. Well one is still working, in its ideal configuration of USB connection to an XP machine, and the second is on the Return Merchandise Authorization highway, destination - Texas Seagate brickyard. If I had to do it over again I would better scrutinize the reviews for what I hoped would be a reliable data archive. Seagate simply released a model that is a dud, and we buy these because they otherwise have a good rep, and the storage capacity is so alluring.

In theory magnetic media is about as good as long term storage gets, but with the caveat that the electromechanical link must be manufactured and tested properly. Seagate, please, no more stunts like this [ever] again.

Great Machine (2010-01-12)
This is a great buy. Seagate is a trusted company, and this is my second of their external hard drives (i also have a 3 year old 320 gig that i filled up and needed the 1.5 tb room). The ONLY reason i give it a four star, (and believe me i would have given it 4 and a half if i could) is because, like other people have stated before, it does do a slight wind-up and clicking noise upon start up. but it doesnt last and its not a huge deal, just makes me nervous that it will lead to something worse, and if it does i will update. but as of now, its great!

Pleaaase SAVE Yourself the heartache, you will LOSE data (2010-01-05)
This is the worst HD I've ever bought and will get me off seagate for a LONG time.

Just do a google search, you will see MANY people have my problem. $mft write errors, then you better transfer your files immediately or they will be lost.

The drive then starts a slow death, in my case about 1 month after I bought it (this is about avg). TOTALLY UNRELIABLE.
