Great International Surge Protector! (2009-07-22)
It is really hard to find a surge protector that works on foreign electricity. I travel to countries where the power is often "dirty" so I'm loathe to charge my camera, etc. without one of these.

Not only does this one work everywhere, but it also has two plugs: American and European round two prong, which works in some other countries, e.g., India, in places where they have new style outlets.

This does NOT mean that it will fit all outlets globally, which is what the reviewer who wanted to use it in Australia was really complaining about - for that, you need an adapter.

NOT for other countries! (2008-09-20)
I live in the United States, and I was hoping to use this for travel to Australia. Because it says you can use the product in Australia. So I bought one of these with the thought that it will let me plug in my computer in Australia outlets, or any other outlets I might have.

That is NOT the case. It appears that it will allow you to plug in almost any other country's outlets into it, but the only prongs on this device are for the US or some rounded plugs. I'm not sure where the rounded plugs go to, but it's not Australia or the UK. There's also a tab at the top that says "UK" on it, but I've pushed, pulled and messed with it, and I have not been able to get any results from it.

It does work US-to-US as a surge protected. I've got it to work for my iPod, no problem. But, if you're like me, you're not buying this device because it works in the US, you're buying it to work outside the US. Also, if you know what the rounded plugs are for, I'd certainly appreciate any input on what they're good for.

Great nifty little gadget (2008-03-28)
I'm ever so pleased with this, it's small, and very handy, and serves as a surge protector as well. Other travel adapters only let you plug in your appliances in other sockets, but this one actually protects your notebook, mp3 player, camera battery charger etc. against unexpected power surges. It's light, yet durable, and very reliable, since it's a Philips.
