HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! (2010-03-13)
Lost all by data due to shotty software. Will never buy this brand again and I am still skeptic of external drives. Customer service was a joke and I couldnt even get help on getting a new WORKING drive even though I lost all my data.
Not Worth the Money with Other Drives on the Market (2010-01-28)
I have used this drive for about a year and a half, and this morning the input for the power adapter "pushed" back into the drive, and now I cannot access my data. Often, this hard drive would not work with other computers. Not worth the money.
Software not compatible with Windows 7 (2010-01-14)
I've been using this for over a year and have been happy with it. However, the software is not completely compatible with windows 7, so you cannot password protect/encypt the drive. Maxtor/Seagate will not be updating the software to work with windows 7. very frustrating.
not good if you password protect and PC dies (2010-01-05)
This Maxtor drive is a pain if you password protect it and then try to get it to run on another PC or hard drive. Nothing happens. You can't find any support information that tells you this. Don't password protect your files unless you have set up this hard drive on more than one machine. You will need to turn off the password protection before it can be loaded onto another PC. That is not a good plan if you only have one machine.
"safekeeping"? Not. (2010-01-03)
I moved a bunch of images for safekeeping and to create room in my reliable Hyperspace Colordrive. Some months later, wanting to consolidate images into a terabyte drive, I find that the disc clicks and is not recognized by my computer. Dead disc, after one use!! Images gone. Thank goodness that the keepers had been saved elsewhere. Not a good recommendation for this manufacturer.
