Love it! Beautiful color! (2010-02-14)
I absolutely love this jacket! It feels thick and luxurious, and looks beautiful and elegant. I carry my Kindle in my handbag everywhere I go, and this padded cover keeps it safe and convenient. The color is a beautiful brilliant blue - not the bright blue shown in the picture, but certainly not turquoise, either. I was actually hoping for more of a turquoise after reading some of the reviews, but the color is so pretty that it immediately won me over. The elastic corners hold the Kindle securely in place, and the M-Edge light I added provides a surprising amount of light. I often stand it up on my desk to read while eating lunch, or on a throw pillow on my lap when reading late at night. Five Stars!
Kindle Cover (2010-01-31)
I was very pleased. The product was exactly as described and arrived exactly when it said it would arrive. The only problem buying over the internet is not being about to see it personally and touching it. This proved NOT to have mattered and it saved a drive to the store.
Thanks
Very pleased! (2009-12-29)
I am quite pleased with this cover for my Kindle 2. The fit is snug and secure and the option to use it as a stand is a nice addition. The interior is soft, so there is little chance of scratching on my screen. It closes simply with a tab that tucks into the cover both when it is closed and to add stability when it is being used as a stand. I like that my K2 is held in by elastic and leather tabs that are lined with the soft fabric as opposed to the metal clips I have seen on some of the other covers. After reading a number of reviews about covers that have the clips, I was wary of a cover that might crack my K2.
The colour is slightly more teal than advertised online. It really isn't an issue though because when I compared the two, it was only a slight difference and the brightness and tone is the same. I attribute this to the fact that the cover is leather and there is always some variability in dye lots and how the leather takes the dye.
My K2 feels slightly heavier and takes up a bit more space, but the whole point of buying this cover was to protect my K2, which the cover does very well. The added weight and bulkiness are minimal and to be expected.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the speed at which this cover arrived to my door. I ordered it around noon on a Monday and it arrived at 12:30 the next day! I was prepared to wait 2-3 weeks as that seemed to be what happened for other people. Considering it had to come from the U.S., through customs and to my door in Canada, I was not expecting to get it in 24 hours.
Overall, I am quite impressed and when I decide to purchase more accessories for my K2, this vendor will be at the top of my list.
A note on the color... (2009-05-07)
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I agonized over which Kindle 2 cover to purchase. Like most people, I don't have the disposable income to purchase a complete wardrobe for my reading device. These accessories can quickly add up! So, I wanted to make a good choice.
To be honest, I really liked the idea of a cover that opened like a book. I ultimately picked the M-Edge Platform Jacket because, as other's have mentioned, the functionality of being able to stand the Kindle up for easy reading at meals and other times trumped any aesthetic consideration. Also, I really liked the idea of being able to have the (not-yet-available) M-Edge book light integrated right into the cover. Cost was also a consideration. This option seemed nicer than the basic Amazon cover, but is still one of the more moderate choices.
While I just said that functionality trumps looks, I have to admit that the color was a big issue for me. I love colors, and the shade of blue in the photos is fabulous. But everyone kept writing that the color shown is not accurate. I really wanted to know what to expect. Well, I'd call it more of a cyan than a teal, and I think it's really gorgeous. To help others visualize the true color, I went to the Pantone color chart--which you can easily google.
Scroll down to Pantone 301. Holding up my cover to the screen, that's the closest color to it. That little swatch looks somewhat dull, but it looks really great in leather. Oh, BTW, my leather is not shiny at all, and seems to be holding up well to wear and tear as I schlep the thing everywhere.
In conclusion, I really couldn't be happier with my choice from the standpoint of looks, protection, and utility.
This would make a good "dock", and stands well, but it's too big otherwise (2009-05-06)
I bought this cover because I wanted the steno configuration so the kindle would stand upright. It does that well, but I hate the extra ~inch on the left. It's surprising how often it makes the difference in whether the Kindle fits someplace. This would be a perfectly adequate cover to use at home like a dock for a laptop, or in a briefcase, but it's so much more cumbersome that I often take the cover off rather than put up with it.
The smooth leather finish does have a nice feature as it turns out -- it's very tacky, so the Kindle doesn't slide off the car seat easily.
I kept this cover because I thought the light would fit in the space, but the Mighty Bright light in the "often bought together" link sure doesn't fit at all. (See change to review, below)
I do like to hold it by opening the cover all the way and putting the tab in from the back, then slipping my hand between the covers. I can hold it like that with one hand with very little effort.
The workmanship is excellent, but I still wish it fit the Kindle.
AMENDING REVIEW: Now that the light that actually fits in the extra space in this case is available, I like it much better. This light M-Edge e-Luminator2 Kindle Booklight (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)--ON BACKORDER, SHIPS IN 1-3 WEEKS slides into the side. It would be better if it fit straight up and down there, but it's a little too long and needs to bend around the corner at the top. The case does close, though it takes the pen space. I'm boosting the platform case review from a 2 to a 4.
