I have used the DVD burner to burn at least a dozen DVDs and have had no problems with it. I like the fact that it has it's own AC power cord and is not USB powered. It worked right out of the box without having to install any of the included software. (I'm using Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and a Dell 4550 computer.) One definitely has to plug the USB cable into a USB port on the computer and NOT a USB hub. The burn time with a USB port is about 7 minutes at 16x but is 77 minutes with a USB hub.

I used this for booting and installing linux on embedded systems, and as an external drive for Aspire One netbook (linux and windows). I haven't done any burning with it, but I haven't had any trouble having it recognized and used.

The only thing that kind of through me for a loop initially was that the box I got had text that was all written in Korean. However, after getting everything up and running, it worked as well as I had expected/hoped.
This drive is really fantastic! Sleek, versatile, portable (USB), and it burns/reads/rips discs pretty fast!
I'm really happy with this, especially for the price. It was a really great purchase, and will definitely help me with my musical career (with the LightScribe function).
LG GSA-E60L Great dvd burner!! (2009-09-11)
I've had this burner since July 2009 and burned 100+ dvds now, and never had a problem and for about 50-60 bucks you can't beat it! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy external dvd burner! People say it's to big but for my setup it's perfect,I have a computer desk I bought like 2 years ago from staples and on the right side of the desk above my tower there's a self you can add 2 but I like the one and that's where I have my external LG dvd burner I just cut a hole in the wood so the power supply and usb can go through instead of pinching wires!
