I plugged the drive into the wall and the computer ... and it worked. End of story.
Great Hard Drive (2008-10-11)
The hard drive got here on time, and its a great product. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
Good connectivity but noisy (2008-10-06)
I like the many connectivity options with Firewire 400 & 800 & USB & eSata but the drive is very noisy which is a bit annoying.
Solid Unit - Does what it says. (2008-09-16)
Works as advertised. I'm using it for video storage. I use FW800 which is normally fast...but for HD video it's slow. Glad it has e-SATA. My next purchase is an e-SATA card for my computer. Only reason I gave 4 starts is because it has a separate power plug unit. Portability is limited to an outlet near by.
Horrible product (2008-08-12)
The drive was very noisy right out of the box. It worked for two weeks and then seized to operate. The drive spins up and down, very noisily not being recognized by either Windows XP or OS X 10.5.1. I do not recommend to buy this product.
