What else can I say? (2007-12-31)
Not much to these things...they are great for vertical shot comfort and give you great battery life. If you need one, get one!
A necessary accessory (2007-10-22)
The battery grip is a very necessary add-on for the 40D (or any other Canon camera which it will fit). It turns out to be even better than described, as it facilitates vertical format with its extra trigger and controls, and of course, having two batteries extends the time between recharging or battery replacement. It even accepts AA batteries in case of an emergency (being somewhere without power for your charger). It adds a little weight, but does not make the camera harder to handle. Highly recommended.
