Easily disassembled (2009-08-09)
Of course, we all know that 'if you open the case, the warranty is void'. However, these days, who wants a refurbished brick? A 500GB/5400 drive is only in the $80-90 range, so sending things back for 'warranty' seems a bit silly when you can easily replace the internal part and NOT risking your data out there.

Unlike Seagate and Western Digital, this drive enclosure is sensibly designed and can be disassembled easily. The entire body is heat sink, so overheating is not a problem at all. Because of the design, I am fully comfortable using the drive as a full-time unit rather than just an occasional backup drive.

Simply Amazing (2009-07-15)
This is by far the best portabble external HDD I have ever used. Completely flexible no matter what your connection type as it supports USB 2.0 and both FW 400 and 800. Completely bus powered which if you are constantly on the go is a must. Sleek and Slim design and goes great with my Mac Book Pro. Formatted for Mac out of the box and works perfectly on my PC with third party software. More reliable than a LaCie rugged although not as durable, but then again thats what the case if for. Also lets be honest, you shouldnt be dropping your hard drive on the ground anyway. Highly recomend this product over all portable drives. Totally worth the extra money over the LaCie and especially worth the extra for more than just a USB 2.0 connection.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (2009-07-11)
I purchased two G-Drive Combo two years ago.I sent one of them in for repair 3 WEEKS AGO and still haven't been able to get them to tell me what is wrong with my drive. The first two calls they were not able to find my drive, they lost it...After the Third and Fourth call on Friday the customer service guy told me to call back on Monday. He also said to expect to be on hold for about an hour. Each time I call I am on hold for about 20 minutes.
DO NOT PURCHASE ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Excellent company, but they made a useless product! (2009-03-29)
Firewire 800 and 400 work great. USB actual measured throughput is .61 MegByte per second!!! A 50gig backup takes 21 hours!!!

I have tried 2 new G-Tech G-DRIVE 250GB mini Triple Portable Hard Drives and they both measure the same. Using the included y-power cable didn't help, (without it the the drive won't work on USB at all. I called G-Tech support they were no help. This is a high quality drive I can't understand how they let this slip through.

G-Drive Mini with Big Reliability (2008-11-17)
I've owned 2 standard size external drives made by G-Tech. They have been the most reliable drives I've ever owned. They have never gave off any weird noises or the dreaded clicking sounds in the 2 years that I've had them. So I decided to get the G-Drive 250Gig mini. It's built like a tank with an all metal casing and no fan makes it very durable to lug around with you every day. It feels very sturdy in your hands unlike some plastic encased drives that feel a lil loose at the seams. The Transfer speeds are crazy fast too, the G-Drive triple comes with 3 connections: Firewire 400, Firewire 800 & USB 2.0 so you have many options of taking advantage of the newer higher transfer speeds, great for media files. It's an amazing portable drive and I highly recommend it.
